Powers of Preternia podcast by Giga-Leo Powers of Preternia podcast by Giga-Leo
Iím part of a Podcast called The Powers of Preternia! Well, technically I have been for a little while now, but didnít think to post the artwork I was doing for it until now.
First, for anyone who isnít familiar with Podcasts, theyíre a method of publishing files to the Internet, allowing users to subscribe to a feed (kind of like channels) and receive new files automatically by subscription, usually at no cost.

Okay, my buddy Eric, who is SUPAH-Talented, began writing up episodes based on an idea he had for the toyline that turned into He-Man; He-Ro! You heard right, He-Ro! If youíre curious about the character, try snooping around He-Man.org for more info. Anywho, Eric deserves a buttload of credit for pulling this thing together, and through a lot of collaboration and hard work by everyone involved in the projrect, Point Dread Players Presents: The Powers of Preternia Podcast was born. Here is one of the promotional pieces I did for the podcast, and I shall have more up very soon.
This picture is of King Grayskull and his Sorceress/bride being observed by the great dragon Granamyr, who looms over a then-newer Castle Grayskull.

I really dig your style! The shadings look pretty dramatic and I like how it has the somewhat angular feel to it.

I remember the episodes where Granamyr appears. This pic remember me my days of tennager. Nice job

Thanks! Yeah, Granamyr was one of my favorite characters, I was really sad he didn't make an appearance in the new series.

Awesome, I look forward to seeing it :) I forgot how many dragons were running around Eternia in the old cartoon, there's so much you can do with them!

Wow, I love how you've done a sort of blurred background, it makes the foreground stand out a lot more, there's something really amazing about this piece of fanart, I don't know what it is, but it's just great.

Many thanks! Actually, this particular picture isn't a spoof, the characters in it are in the He-Man universe but the Podcast itself is a fan created timeline. It looks at things in a different light of the and makes connections at the series didn't bother establishing. The result is very entertaining story that explains our things that, up until now, have never really been touched upon. :)

Looks excellent my friend. Looks a lot like He-Man, which I love so much, especially when I was a kid. Ah, nostalgia.

Thank you! Yes, the guy in the foreground staring down the dragon is King Grayskull. If you have a chance, check out the updated He-Man episodes they made a couple of years ago, they go into the backstory of where the 'Power of Grayskull" came from. Essentially, King Grayskull originally lived in Castle Grayskull and achieved the ultimate power of heart, goodness, etc., but died in his final battle with Hordak. His spirit is supposed to be what Prince Adam channels when he calls "By the Power of Grayskull" and turns into He-Man. My friend Eric didn't care much for this explaination since it kind of cheapens the whole wonder and mystery of Castle Grayskull itself, so he started a Podcast that takes place long before the He-Man series, and is doing an amazing job tying in a LOT of characters we never got to see in the show and random characters from the old show that never got much screen time. At the same time it's explaining things in the current Motu universe. I can't say how happy I am to be a part of it! Check out the site if you get the urge, it's good stuff :)

Thank you! I'm so happy that Eric asked me to work with him on this project, as I've always been a MOTU fan, but tend to need some motivation to focus on fanart... Definitely check out the podcast if you can, I think you'll enjoy it. And if it moves you to do so, leave feedback, we loves us some feedback! :)

I understand, it's funny how you find yourself shifting from one to the other, and everytime you start doing a lot of work on one, you yell at yourself for ignoring the other... Hehe, it's a neverending cycle!

I suppose so. Still I have to thank you about the dragon. I knew he looked familiar, but I didn't remember his name for the life of me. But I have another question: was he good or bad?

I loved Granamyr in the old series, it made me sad that they didn't include im in the new series, but they had a strict 'no talking animals' rule for some reason... Granamyr, if I remember correctly, usually helped out He-Man, so I guess you could call him a good guy, but he always seemed pretty indifferent or even irritated about helping sometimes. I think in his eyes it was better to help out He-Man since he was causing less trouble than Skeletor.

I see I see, thanks for the insight. It's sad when I hear you say "no talking to animals," since dragons are way too smart to be called animals, but oh well.

When you say the new series, do you mean that 2003 remake?

Yup, as much as I love the new series, I really hated the fact that they took away Cringer/BattleCat's ability to speak, and though they had dragons, none of them spoke. The creators claimed that having the animals talk would give the show too much of a 'young' tone, but honestly I think if it's handled correctly it would have added just as much to the show as the main speaking cast. They didn't have to have Cringer jabbering all the day-o, just a snivelling comment every now and then vs the blood-crazed Battle Cat. I honestly think they just didn't know how to handle talking animals as opposed to just presuming it would make the tone immature or 'young'. I mean heck, even MewTwo from Pokemon spoke, and there was NOTHING 'young' about the Pokemon movie's tone when he destroyed everyone and everything in a laboratory. Sadly the film went WAY downhill from there, but that one scene, whew!
